
Yamilee Bastien
U.S. Commercial Service
Yamilee Bastien is a Foreign Commercial Service Officer on
assignment at the Miami U.S. Export Assistance Center, where
she covers the Financial Services, FinTech, and Agribusiness sectors,
as well as serving as the Department of Commerce’s liaison to SOUTHCOM. She served as Acting Regional Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá, Colombia from 2018 to early 2020. She also completed a four-year assignment as Commercial Attaché at
the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires, where she was instrumental in launching the U.S.-Argentina Commercial Dialogue, a mechanism that allows our governments to collaborate in the promotion of two-way trade and investment. Before her assignment in Buenos Aires, Yamilee served as a Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in BrasÃlia from 2010 to 2013. From 2007 to 2010, she served on a domestic tour at the Miami
U.S. Export Assistance Center. She has over 20 years of international business development experience in over a dozen countries.
Yamilee earned her M.A. in International Law and Economics from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). She holds a B.A. in International Relations and History, with a certificate in Latin American and Caribbean Studies, from Florida International University. She is fluent in French, Spanish, and Portuguese, and also speaks Italian and Haitian Creole.
